Igbo Community Pays Tribute to Anambra Ex-Governor, Ezeife

The Igbo community gathered at the Valedrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja over the weekend to honor the late former Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, in a farewell ceremony.

Prominent figures from various sectors, including former governors, former ministers, National Assembly members, and Igbo leaders from 19 northern states and Abuja, attended the event. They took turns eulogizing Dr. Ezeife and his contributions.

Speakers at the ceremony urged Igbo leaders to emulate Ezeife’s exemplary lifestyle as a way of honoring his legacy and those he left behind.

Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, Chairman of the Ezeife National Burial Committee and former governor of Enugu State, expressed regret that Ezeife passed away when he did. He encouraged attendees to live lives that would positively impact humanity and be remembered when they are gone.

The event, titled “Life and Times of Okwadike,” featured traditional dancers, cultural troupes, and masquerades from different tribes across the country.

Various attendees, including Eze Ndigbo Abuja Dr. Uche Egenti, Eze Ndigbo Ghana Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu, and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Coordinator Barrister Augustine Amaechi, expressed sadness over the loss of the iconic elder statesman and emphasized the need to support Ezeife’s family.

Hon. Chinedu Obika, a representative of AMAC and Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, acknowledged the difficulty in filling the void left by Ezeife’s passing.
