Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Imo State governorship election, expressed unwavering confidence in his victory, stating that nothing can impede his success in the poll.
Addressing journalists after casting his vote at Polling Unit 012, Ama Imo Community Primary School in Ikeduru Local Government Area, Anyanwu emphasized that if the election remains largely peaceful, he is optimistic about emerging victorious.
The National Secretary of the PDP acknowledged the overall positive conduct of the election but noted incidents of ballot box snatching in the Orlu zone. Undeterred, Anyanwu remained unfazed, pointing out that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared that votes from areas with violence would not be counted.
“Honestly, everything is getting calm. In about seven wards, ballot boxes have been carted away. That does not stop me from winning. If the election is free and credible, I will win the elections,” said Anyanwu.
He further reassured the public, stating, “I am not bothered about the snatching of ballots because INEC said that any places where there are incidences of violence would not be counted.” Despite challenges, Senator Anyanwu remained resolute in his belief that a fair and credible election would lead to his triumph.
