INEC declares kogi west Senatorial election inconclusive.

Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has declared last weekend Kogi West Senatorial election inconclusive .

According to the INEC’s returning officer, Professor Olayide Lawal, the candidate of All Progressive Congress(APC), Senator Smart Adeyemi scored highest votes of 80,118, while Senator Dino Melaye who came second,and the flag bearer of People Democratic Party(PDP) got 59,548.votes.

Professor Lawal stated further that voting was disrupted in 53 Polling Units where 46,127 Registered Voters were affected in the district.

He said by the stand of electoral Act, a winner has not emerged, since the number of voters in the disrupted polling units are more than the different of votes between the first two leading parties in the election.

The INEC returning officer added further that the commission will announce the new date for the supplementary Polls in the affected areas.
