Apple’s latest announcement about iOS 17 brings a range of exciting features such as StandBy mode, NameDrop, and Live Voicemail. However, with the release of this new operating system, several older iPhone models will no longer receive support from Apple. The affected models include the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.
To experience the new iOS 17, users will need to have an iPhone XS series or a newer device that meets Apple’s compatibility requirements. Fortunately, the second and third-generation iPhone SE models will still receive support. It appears that the aging A11 Bionic chipset is the limiting factor for the iPhone X and 8 series.
Turning our attention to iPadOS 17, Apple has decided to discontinue support for the first-generation iPad Pro models, as well as the fifth-generation iPad that was launched in 2017.
