IYC disassociate self from calls on Petroleum Minister, Lokpobiri to be redeployed

Amgbare Ekaunkumo, Yenagoa

The 9th leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Worldwide under Comrade Jonathan Lokpobiri has disassociated itself from a press statement issued by some national executive officers of the IYC from the Eastern Zone purportedly calling for the redeployment of the Hon. Minister of State Petroleum Resources, (Oil) Senator Heineken Lokpobiri over current fuel scarcity.

Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri while reacting to the press statement condemned it and described the action of the national officers from the Eastern Zone as ill conceived, ill motivated by greed and done in bad fate, coming from desperate and unfit Ijaw sons and daughter who have been elected to serve the Ijaw nation in very sensitive positions.

Lokpobiri said through his Media Aide that the statement abinitio. is declared null and void due to the the person’s who signed the ignorable press statement and can never reflect the position of the IYC as a body formed to protect the interest of Ijaw people worldwide.

He maintained that constitutionally no executive member of the IYC has powers to issue press statement on behalf of the body except the President and or the spokesman, adding that the President and the Spokesman did not author any such release.

He wondered why such national executive officers would fall to the antics of being sponsored by some disgruntled politicians to tarnished the image of an illustrious, distinguished Ijaw son.

The IYC national president warned that Eastern Zone national executive officers of the body who endorse such a shameful statement to be prepared to face the IYC disciplinary committee where appropriate sanctions would be metted out, adding that it is preposterous and unbelievable that persons who occupy such reverred positions in the IYC and swore to an oath to defend and protect the interest of Ijaw nation would use their privilege positions to undermine and subvert the collective interest of Ijaw people.

Lokpobiri called on the national executive officers who endorsed such an ignorable publication to tender unreserved apology to Hon. Minister of State Petroleum Resources Oil, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and for working against the interest of Ijaw nation which they swore to protect and defend under oath.

He urged the public to discountenance the statement issued by the four national executive officers from the Eastern Zone as it was done in bad fate and called on the media to always verify stories from the president or the spokesman of the IYC before publication.
