JAMB Maintains UTME Registration Deadline as 1.5 Million Candidates Enroll

By Abigail Philip David

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed that the registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will close on March 8, 2025, with no extension.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, emphasized that the deadline had been clearly communicated in all official advertisements and the board’s calendar for the 2025 UTME.

This announcement comes as JAMB confirmed that over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered for the exam.

“We wish to inform all prospective candidates that there will be no extension of the registration period,” the statement read.

JAMB also noted a recent slowdown in registration numbers and urged applicants to register promptly rather than waiting until the last minute.

“With over 1.5 million candidates already registered, we are on track with our projections for the 2025 examination cycle. The board operates on a fixed calendar, which includes multiple post-registration activities such as examinations, results processing, and admissions exercises,” the statement added.

JAMB stressed that any extension would disrupt its schedule and affect other institutions that depend on its timeline.

Candidates are, therefore, advised to complete their registration as soon as possible to avoid missing the deadline.
