Johnny emerges new NASU chairman of FUO

The Non Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU),Federal University Otuoke branch, has elected Comr.Johnny Godwin as chairman to steer its affairs for the next four years.

He emerged in a keenly contested election during the 3rd Quadrennial meeting/election held at East Campus , Skill Auditorium,Otuoke on Tuesday, where he polled 58 votes to defeat two other opponents, Pst. Aduku Austin, who scored 56 votes and Comr.Godswin Ebebhesi polled 55 votes.

Comrade Ikisikpo Stanley emerged Secretary while Inipami Emina Vivian emerged Treasurer.

Others are Comrade Igbunu Weri Ruth, Comr.Obodo Mark Nanyari, Comrade Zuokumor Sunny, Comr.Priscilia Bomo Gad, Comr.Kenigua Idubamo who are to serve as Ex—Officios respectively.

Speaking shortly after announcing the result, the National representative of NASU Comr.Emmanuel Okonkwo said the total registered voters were 177, five votes was Declared invalid.

He said the positions were duly contested adding that the committee was fair to all the contestants.

He urged the winners to lead by example and carry every member along for the benefit of the association.

In his acceptance speech after being sworn-in as the new elected Chairman of NASU FUO Chapter, Comr. Johnny described his emergence as divinely ordained and promised not to betrayed the confidence reposed on him.

Johnny, who took over from his predecessor, Ebebhesi Godwin, extended a hand of fellowship to his challengers in the poll, noting that he needed the support of every member to move the union forward.

He stated that his administration will focus on three keys areas, which are schedule buses to ease transportation, staff rights and benefits and end of year packages for members.

” I feel so happy and delighted today for being chosen by my people.

“I have in mind three points Agenda, looking into the needs of our staffs, union have stayed eight years, it is high time, union have buses to ease transportation, I will look into staff rights and benefits, whatever is due to staff , they will receive it, end of year packages for all members.

” Election is not a do or die affair, they should embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and joins with me to move the union to greater height.”
