Joint Hunters, Community Policing, An Antidote To Criminality – EODU

Joint Community Policing with government’s security agents has been identified as the sure way of curbing the rising wave of kidnapping and criminality in the society.

The national President of Egume Ome Descendants Union, (EODU) Alhaji Mohamed Ibrahim Lawal made the assertion at the Annual General Meeting of the Union held at Community Comprehensive Secondary school, Egume in Dekina local government area during this Yuletide.

Alhaji Lawal pointed out that the current trends of kidnapping has not only discouraged visit of major stakeholders to their country homes to ascertain the level of Community developments but has affected human development economically.

He commended the constituted conflict resolution committee on Farmers / Fulani herdsmen for the restoration of confidence and peaceful coexistence among the Herdsmen and Farmers in the community.

The president who attributed the inability of the EXCO to implement the 2020 budget to the overwhelming security challenges and farmers/ Herdsmen crisis said “we can get it right if we embrace the right attitude, norms and skills in building the moral and social aspects of the Community”.

Alhaji Lawal also commended all branches of the union and stakeholders for the display of loyalty and contributions towards the recent enumeration exercise of population commission and enjoined them to sustain the developmental zeal and determination to move Egume to enviable height.

In his contribution, the national Vice president of EODU, Comrade Sunday Maji attributed the rising social vices among the youths in the community to laziness and “get  rich quick syndrome” which according to him has been identified as a societal ill.

Mr. Maji who called on parents to ensure regular household checkmate and monitoring the activities of their children warned that government will not hesitate to deal with anybody caught in the criminal webs, irrespective of such person’s status and position in the society.

The Vice President who frowned at the suspected criminals who were on-the-run but seeking for pardon from the union Leaders, however, advised the concerned to channel their apology of good behaviours  through appropriate law enforcement agencies.

He commended the spiritual and moral zeal of stakeholders towards the upliftment of the Community Comprehensive Secondary school Egume educationally, assuring that “we will assist any brilliant students who might be financially handicap rather than to support criminality”.
