Judge Arthur Engoron issued a stern rebuke to Donald Trump after the former president targeted one of his clerks in a social media post on Tuesday. In response, Judge Engoron issued a gag order, prohibiting all parties from making any future comments about his staff.
During the court proceedings, the judge expressed his displeasure, saying, “This morning, one of the defendants posted a disparaging, untrue, and personally identifying post about a member of my staff on social media. Although I have since ordered the post to be deleted, and it appears that it was, it had already been emailed out to millions of other recipients.”
Judge Engoron emphasized, “Personal attacks on any member of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate, and I will not tolerate them.”
As Trump listened, the judge continued by stating that all parties involved in the case were prohibited from publicly discussing any members of the court staff. He made it clear that this statement should be regarded as an official order, warning, “Failure to abide by this order will result in serious sanctions.”
