JUST IN: Closed-Door Meeting at Aso Villa Amidst Nationwide Protests: Gbajabiamila, Ribadu, and Ministers Convene

Following the eruption of protests in various states across the country, a closed-door meeting is currently underway at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting, which commenced around 05:30 pm, is attended by the President’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, alongside several ministers.

Among those present are the Ministers of Education, Dr. Tahir Mamman; Finance, Wale Edun; Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari; and the State for Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri.

This gathering on Tuesday follows demonstrations by angry youths and women in Minna and Kano protesting against the perceived increase in the cost of living in the country.

In Niger State, a group of women reportedly blocked the busy Minna-Bida Road at the renowned Kpakungu Roundabout, urging the administration to address the issue of ‘hunger in the land.’

Efforts by security personnel to disperse the protesters using tear gas canisters and making arrests were met with resistance from the crowd.

Further details on the outcome of the meeting are anticipated.
