Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, affirmed on Tuesday that no administration is impervious to mistakes, underscoring his government’s dedication to public welfare. The governor made this statement in response to the procurement record disclosed by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency during the inauguration of the Lagos State Building Control Agency Building in PWD Ikeja.

During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu addressed an open letter from the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Congress in Lagos, Funso Doherty, expressing gratitude for the letter and assuring that the government would persist in publishing its spending for public scrutiny.

“We are committed, responsible, and transparent. We don’t have a problem with anybody or any individual. We acknowledge that these are ways we should be doing things,” stated the governor in a video clip shared by his aide, Jubril Gawat, on X handle.

He continued, “We appreciate criticism. We appreciate the fact that people can look at us in the face and say that we need to do well in the state. So we don’t have a problem with the originator of an open letter. In fact, we like it, and we want to thank him, and that’s to say that indeed, to be a government that’s firm and responsible, we should not shy away from criticism.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged instances of errors in spending, citing a specific case where an item intended to be N2 million was mistakenly recorded as N2 billion. He emphasized his commitment to lead a team of dedicated and committed public officials who aim to serve the people of Lagos transparently.

He concluded by affirming that the website will continue to function, with all relevant information available for public access. The governor reiterated the government’s dedication to rectifying mistakes while remaining steadfast in its commitment to public goods and services for the benefit of Lagosians.
