Just In: Presidency, Global Health Awards Lawmaker Amos Magaji with Legislative Champion Title

Hon. Dr. Amos Gwamna Abel Magaji, the Member representing Zango/Jaba in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Healthcare Services, has earned distinction for his contributions to the health sector.

The Presidency, in collaboration with Global Health Advocacy Incubator, has recognized Hon. Magaji’s efforts by awarding him the prestigious “Legislative Champion for Public Health Resilience” title at an event held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

Other recipients of the award include:

  • Prof. Muhammed Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health
  • Rt. Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs & Poverty Reduction
  • Dist. Sen. Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Chair, Senate Committee on Health (Secondary and Primary)
  • Dist. Sen. Dr. Tony Nwoye, Deputy Senate Chairman on Primary Healthcare and Disease Control
  • Dist. Sen. Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, Chair, Senate Committee on Health (Secondary and Primary) 9th Assembly
  • Dist. Sen. Dr. Chukwuka Utazi, Chair, Senate Committee on Healthcare and Communicable Diseases 9th Assembly
  • Hon. Chief Dr. Regina Akume, Chairman House Committee on Food and Drugs Control
  • Hon. Musa Ali Kachako, Chairman House Committee on Health, 9th Assembly

Prominent personalities present at the event included Sen. (Dr.) Chief George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Dr. Salma Ibrahim Anas, the Special Adviser to the President on Health, alongside other stakeholders in the health sector.

The event, which is ongoing, is expected to release further details later, according to a statement signed by Engr. Seth Bakut, Head of Projects at the Office of the Chairman, Healthcare Services.
