Just in: SOKAPU PRO detained by Kaduna Govt

A Journalsts formally with the Vanguard newspapers, currently the spokesman of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Mr Luka Binniyat has been detained by the police on the alleged orders of the Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El Rufai


Information available to our correspondent on circumstances which led to his arrest and detention is still scanty, SOKAPU sources however revealed that he was arrested over an article and detained without bail.


Although the State Police command Spokesman ASP Muhammed Jalige could not respond when contacted for clarification, the national President of SOKAPU who confirmed the incident said Mr Binniyat was detained as a result of complaint against him by the State commissioner of internal security and Home Affairs Mr Samuel Aruwan.


“Yes it’s true. His detention without bail was as a result of a complaint against him by Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner of internal security and home affairs Kaduna state concerning an article Luka wrote where Samuel’s name was mentioned. They claimed injurious, falsehood”, he stated.


Recalled that the victim is still in court with Governor Nasiru el-rufai led government over his earlier news report published in the vanguard newspapers early in the beginning of the current regime.

Luka was arrested and remanded in prison for about three months over alleged false news report and being prosecuted by the government in Kaduna high court before the recent incident. We’ll keep our audience updated subsquently on any development on this matter.
