JUST IN: Tinubu receives Super Eagles at Aso Villa

President Bola Tinubu is currently hosting Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, at the State House Council Chambers.

This meeting, taking place on Tuesday, follows closely on the heels of their recent battle for the top spot at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations against the host country, Côte d’Ivoire.

All team members and officials were observed to be in attendance at the State House.

Nigeria faced a defeat against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON finals held last Sunday.

In a statement issued after the match, Tinubu praised the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work, dedication, and sacrifices that brought them this far in the tournament. He acknowledged the obstacles they overcame with consistently improving performances as they progressed to the finals.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain optimistic, emphasizing that “we achieved a significant victory in the hearts of Africa and the world through our resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit on the field of play.”

He continued, “Let this recent event not dampen our spirits, but unite us in working harder. We are a great nation united under the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and unwavering love.”

Addressing Nigerian youths passionately, Tinubu encouraged them to continue pursuing their dreams, reminding them that they could be the heroes of tomorrow. He assured them of his administration’s commitment to turning their dreams into reality.

Further details are expected to follow.
