Kaduna APC Chieftain Accuses KADGIS DG of Alleged ₦150m Farmland Seizure, Appeals to Gov Uba Sani

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Kaduna State, Malam Hassan Umar Isah, has accused the Director-General of the Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, of allegedly seizing his farmland valued at ₦150 million, and has appealed to Governor Uba Sani to intervene.Isah, who is also the Director of UMR-AL-ALD Nigeria Limited, made the allegation on Monday while addressing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Kaduna. He described the matter as a test of equity and justice under the current Kaduna State administration.

According to Isah, the disputed property covers 3.908 hectares and is located in Unguwan Kudu, Unguwan Rimi, within Kaduna North Local Government Area. He claimed the land was lawfully acquired on February 26, 2025, through an agreement valued at ₦150 million. He further stated that the land originally belonged to the family of the late Malam Muhammad Buda and was historically granted to them by the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto. Isah said he completed the purchase process through the family’s representative, Malam Bature Muazu.

The APC chieftain alleged that after applying for a Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) at KADGIS on April 17, 2025, he began to encounter challenges that he described as irregular and unjustified.Isah claimed that the KADGIS Director-General demanded between 40 and 60 per cent of the land’s value as a condition for issuing the CofO, an action he said contradicts established procedures and the governor’s directive on transparency. He further alleged that on December 18, 2025, Dr. Ibrahim verbally informed him that the land had been taken over, without issuing any formal notice, revocation order, or legal justification.“

This action, if allowed to stand, undermines the principles of fairness, due process, and justice that this administration represents,” Isah said. He added that the alleged seizure amounted to discrimination and abuse of office.Isah, who also served as a director in an APC support group for Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 agenda, stressed that his appeal was not politically motivated but driven by a desire for justice and adherence to the rule of law.

He called on Governor Uba Sani to order an independent investigation into the matter, restore the land to him, and direct KADGIS to issue the Certificate of Occupancy, noting that all relevant documents supporting his ownership had already been submitted. “I believe in the commitment of this administration to justice and equity. I am confident that the governor will look into this matter and ensure that what is right is done,” Isah added. As of the time of filing this report, KADGIS officials had not responded to the allegations. Efforts to ob tain an official reaction from the agency were unsuccessful.
