Kaduna Assembly Recommends Prosecution of el-Rufai for Abuse of Office and Money Laundering

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has recommended the prosecution of former governor Nasir el-Rufai for alleged abuse of office and money laundering during his administration.

This recommendation follows an investigation by an ad-hoc committee led by Henry Zacharia. The committee’s report, submitted on Wednesday, revealed that many loans obtained during el-Rufai’s tenure were not used for their intended purposes, and due process was often bypassed in securing these loans.

The committee recommended that security and anti-corruption agencies investigate and prosecute el-Rufai and other implicated cabinet members for contract awards made without due process, diversion of public funds, and money laundering.

Further details are expected to follow.
