Kaduna CP deploys anti- kidnaps unit to G/Gwari flash points

At last, kaduna State Police Command has ordered immediate deployment of personnel and logistics to the flash points in Birinin Gwari and Chikun Local Government areas of kaduna state where many have been reportedly killed, injured and kidnapped by bandits in January 2021.

A statement issued and made available to journalists yesterday night stated that CP UM Muri has ordered the  deployment in an effort to curb the activities of criminal elements along the said Highway and to also restore public confidence particularly in the affected Communities and Road.Signed by the command Spokesman, Asp Muhammad jalige, the statement further stated that the deployment comprised of conventional Police Officers, Police Mobile Force, Operatives of the Puff Adder exercise, the anti-Kidnapping unit and undercover Operatives respectives. 

“In view of the recent upsurge in Armed Banditry, Kidnapping and other heinous activities along Kaduna – Birni Gwari Highway, the Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command CP UM Muri has ordered the immediate deployment of more personnel and logistics in an effort to curb the activities of criminal elements along the said Highway and to also restore public confidence particularly in the affected Communities and Road users.
“The deployment comprises of conventional Police Officers, Police Mobile Force, Operatives of the Puff Adder exercise, the anti-Kidnapping unit and undercover Operatives. 

“The carefully planned deployment is to create a workable synergy between intelligence and striking units of the force, in order to minimize the activities of the men of the underworld around that axis. Hence, improve the socioeconomic environment and activities for the teaming populace”, CP stated.

The release added that “While commissurating with the families of the victims and pray that Almighty God grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. The CP appeals for more support, as operation of this magnitude cannot be seamlessly successful without cooperation of the host communities, commuters and various stakeholders.

“In this regard the Command is calling on all and sundry to assist the Police in ensuring that criminalities are brought to the barest minimum not only along Kaduna – Birnin Gwari highway but the State in general”, the statement noted. 

Recalled that Nine persons including three infants and many others were killng, injured and kidnapped last week even as two others were killed last Thursday in the area, aside the 40 people still in the abductors custody since December and January this year.
