Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has called on residents to embrace peace, love, and unity, stressing that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of harmony.
The governor made this appeal on Sunday during a Christmas Carol organized by the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at ECWA Good News, Narayi Highcost. He celebrated with the Christian community and reaffirmed his commitment to an inclusive administration.
“We must counter the actions of ethnic and religious bigots who seek to divide us for their selfish interests. Living in peace, love, and unity is essential as we work together to restore Kaduna State to its former glory. Without peace and harmony, development is impossible. I am committed to ensuring our state remains a place where everyone can live freely, irrespective of tribal or religious differences,” Governor Sani said.
He acknowledged the challenges Kaduna State has faced due to ethnic and religious divisions but assured residents that his administration is focused on unity and equal treatment for all.
“When I took the oath of office, I promised to treat everyone equally, regardless of their religious, tribal, or political affiliations. I am a governor for all residents of Kaduna—whether Muslim, Christian, or from any background. I will continue to ensure peace and harmony prevail in our state,” he added.
The governor highlighted the importance of interfaith collaboration, urging Muslims and Christians to work together to rebuild the state and extend economic prosperity to all. He noted that poverty and hardship transcend tribal and religious lines.
“Poverty has no tribe or religion. We must collectively address poverty and unemployment in Kaduna State. Through peace and harmony, we can implement intervention programs to uplift our people. I am committed to working with religious and community leaders to achieve this goal,” he said.
Governor Sani praised the cooperation between Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and CAN in promoting peace in the state. He also commended the Secretary of JNI for attending the Christmas Carol event, describing it as a significant step toward fostering unity.
“I am pleased to see JNI and CAN working together as one family to maintain peace in Kaduna State. While some may not support our efforts, the majority of residents appreciate the progress we are making for the state’s development,” he said.
In his remarks, CAN Kaduna State Chairman, Caleb Ma’aji, lauded Governor Sani for his commitment to inclusivity. He emphasized that the governor’s presence at the Christmas Carol exemplifies his dedication to unity and mutual respect.
“Governor Sani is a leader who prioritizes inclusivity and balance. His attendance here today reaffirms his commitment to running an inclusive administration. We are proud to work with him to ensure Kaduna remains a place of peace and harmony,” Ma’aji said.
The Christmas Carol, attended by both Christians and Muslims, featured music, dance, and prayers. The event celebrated the birth of Christ and demonstrated Kaduna’s commitment to fostering unity among its diverse communities.
