Kaduna Huge Debts: PDP calls for probe of El-rufal

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State has urged Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, to investigate the immediate past Governor, Nasir El-Rufai over the state of finances inherited and debts of $587 million foreign loans, N85 billion local loans and N115 billion contractual liabilities of unpaid abandoned contracts.

The PDP said it has been vindicated over the unfolding issues having warned before hands of the reckless handling of finances, sacking of teachers, as well as illegal sale of people’s landed property and demolition of houses during El-rufai’s administration.

A statement by the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Abraham Alberah Catoh, on Friday, called on Governor Uba Sani to set up a judicial commission of inquiry for a full investigation of the allegations.

PDP said the judicial commission of inquiry should also look into the sale of the state’s landed property in the last eight years of the administration of El-rufai in Kaduna State and those found guilty should be made to face the wrath of law.

“We, as opposition party, are in full support of any plan by the government that would bring development to our dear state, bearing in mind that we shall always kick against anything short of that.

“Recall that in 2018 and 2022, the PDP in Kaduna State drew the attention of the Nasir El-Rufai-led government and the citizens of Kaduna State about the improper use of public funds, the criminal sale of landed properties belonging to the people of the state and the unconstitutional mass sack of qualified teachers and replacement of same with unqualified ones that have even deserted most of their duty posts; the PDP has been vindicated.

“The judicial commission of inquiry should also look into the sale of the state’s landed properties in the last eight years and those found guilty should be made to refund their stolen monies to the state coffers and also face the wrath of the law,” PDP stated
