Kaduna Police Foil Armed Robbery, Recover Stolen Vehicles, and Intercept Military Camouflage

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully thwarted an armed robbery attempt, neutralized one suspect, and seized a locally-made pistol with ammunition. The force also arrested two individuals for vehicle theft, recovered stolen cars, and intercepted 15 pieces of unsewn military camouflage.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, the police made several significant arrests and discoveries in recent operations.

On August 25, 2024, at approximately 1:20 PM, during a routine patrol and stop-and-search operation on the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Highway, police officers stopped a vehicle and discovered a black leather bag containing 15 pieces of unsewn military camouflage material. The suspect confessed that the materials were intended for delivery to armed bandits in the Chukuba area of Shiroro Local Government Area in Niger State. The suspect is currently assisting the police in identifying and apprehending other accomplices.

On August 27, 2024, while on routine patrol around noon, the Makarfi police team encountered armed robbers who had blocked the road with logs and stones. A shootout ensued, during which one robber was neutralized, and a locally-made pistol with one cartridge was recovered. The police are conducting an ongoing search of the surrounding area to apprehend the remaining suspects.

In a separate incident, Abdul Aziz Abdul Mumin reported his blue-black Toyota stolen. Following the report, police located the vehicle in the Hayin Dan Mani area of Kaduna. The police tracked the vehicle and, at approximately 8:00 PM on August 26, 2024, arrested two suspects: Abdul Mukhtar and Mamman Ahmad M, a resident of Zoo Road, Kano. Ahmad was found driving a Mercedes Compressor with the registration number AKD 547 GY, also suspected to be stolen.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to using a master key for vehicle theft. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the full extent of their criminal activities and identify additional accomplices.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, praised the officers for their effective work and assured the public that the command remains committed to eliminating criminal activities in the state.
