Government Warns Appointees on Social Media Conduct

The recent removal of the former Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs from Governor Uba Sani’s cabinet has fueled speculation about a growing rift between the incumbent and his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Mr. Samuel Aruwan’s departure, while not entirely unexpected, has been linked to reported tensions between members of the current administration and individuals perceived to be closely aligned with the former governor.
Reactions to his dismissal have been mixed. Adamu Abdullahi, a commentator, urged the public to avoid misinterpreting the development, stating:
*”We should disregard any explanation regarding the removal or dropping of any appointee. Aruwan served from 2015—did you expect him to serve forever? At the time he was appointed, were there no better journalists? It was his luck to serve his state, and now it’s over.
“Similarly, the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Finance, Madam Bada, left El-Rufai’s government due to alleged incompetence before being given another chance. People should not add irrelevant issues to this matter.
“So many individuals have been dropped for one reason or another. It has nothing to do with religion. Any government staff under investigation for wrongdoing must step aside for proper inquiries to be conducted.
“There’s no truth to claims that Governor Uba Sani is sacking people because of El-Rufai,” Abdullahi emphasized.*
Another respondent commented:
*”He should thank God for having served for many months. Many others never had such an opportunity. Governor Uba Sani, stand firm!”*
The government has also issued warnings to appointees against using social media irresponsibly, urging decorum and professionalism in public discourse.
