The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council has unanimously endorsed Garba Muhammad’s candidacy for NUJ President at the upcoming National Delegates’ Conference in Owerri, Imo State.

Unanimous Support from Kaduna NUJ

At a consultative meeting held in Kaduna on Wednesday, NUJ Kaduna State Council Chairman, Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu, announced the endorsement of Garba Muhammad. She emphasized that the support for Garba’s bid is crucial to restoring the NUJ’s past prominence. “This is our project, and we will do everything possible to deliver it, in shaa Allah,” she affirmed.

Garba’s Vision for NUJ

Garba Muhammad, a member of the Correspondents’ Chapel, expressed his intent to run for the NUJ presidency, driven by a desire to build upon previous leaders’ efforts and elevate the union’s standing. His campaign focuses on enhancing the welfare of journalists, expanding training opportunities, and promoting adherence to professional ethics.

Commitment to Professional Development

Garba promised to prioritize the effective use of the NUJ National Secretariat land, improve member registration processes, and engage retired NUJ members productively. His vision includes significant international and local training initiatives for journalists across Nigeria.

Support from Veteran Journalists

Veteran journalist and former Kaduna Council Chairman, Mal Yunusa Aliyu, voiced strong support for Garba, praising his competence and potential to advance the NUJ. The consultative meeting included past NUJ chairmen, former national officers, chapel chairmen and secretaries, and state officials of NAWOJ, all of whom backed Garba’s candidacy.- [NUJ National Delegates’ Conference](https://www.nuj.org.ng)
