Bandits have once again struck in Kaduna State, abducting the village head of Ungwan Babangida, Babangida Sojiji, and 14 others during a midnight raid on Thursday in Kauru Local Government Area.

The youth leader of Dokan Karji community, Aminu Khalid, confirmed the incident during a phone interview on Friday. He stated that the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the village and fired sporadically before taking their captives.

“Among those kidnapped were three women, nine men, including the village head, and two laborers from Jigawa State and Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State,” Khalid explained.

This attack occurred just 48 hours after bandits abducted four farmers in Libere community, also in Kauru Local Government Area.

Khalid decried the worsening security situation in Kauru, calling for urgent military intervention. “Kauru communities need serious military action against these bandits, who have occupied many villages and left families without breadwinners,” he said.

He also praised vigilante groups for their efforts in combating banditry, noting that they had successfully thwarted several kidnapping attempts in nearby communities.

Attempts to get a statement from the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.

Residents are calling on the federal government and security operatives to intensify efforts to tackle banditry in the region and restore safety to affected communities.
