“Kanayo O. Kanayo Advises Against Giving First Salary to Pastors”

By Milcah Tanimu

In a recent video shared on his Instagram page, actor Kanayo O. Kanayo imparted his wisdom by blessing his son who had just received his first salary. In a touching moment among family and guests, Kanayo emphasized the significance of a father’s blessing over that of a pastor.

“I want to uphold a tradition passed down from our ancestors, a tradition of a father’s blessing,” Kanayo began, gesturing to his son seated beside him.

“As my son concludes his film production with us and earns his first salary of ₦50,000, I request ₦500 from him and ask him to kneel for my blessing.”

Kanayo elaborated on the importance of this practice, highlighting the cultural significance of taking one’s first salary to their father. He explained that this tradition serves as a means for the father to impart financial wisdom and blessings upon his child, guiding them towards success in life.

He went on to discourage individuals from seeking blessings from religious leaders for their first salary, asserting that it is a cultural tradition rooted in Igbo culture. Kanayo stressed that only a father possesses the authority to bless his children in this context.

His message resonated with the importance of honoring cultural traditions and seeking guidance from familial figures in matters of financial management and life success.
