Kano Gov constructs 10 automotive service centers for auto mechanics

Kano State Government has constructed 10 Modern Automotive service centers in parts of the state to enable youths trained in automobile mechanic to be gainfully employed, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has announced.

One of the workshops at Na’ibawa was commissioned by the governor while a second one at Race Course road, both in Kano city, was commissioned by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, represented by Alh. Ibrahim M.L. Jibia, the Director, Skills Development and Certification Department of the Ministry.

He said the service centers were constructed to serve as models and to enable the PAN trainees to become creators of wealth and employers of labour, a release issued in kano and made available to journalists by Governor’s spokesman, Ameen K. Yassar, Thursday, has stated.

“We trained these young men and women on various fields of Automobile Technology at PAN, Kaduna, under our flagship program MATASA MADOGARA. As you can see we ensured gender balance in this empowerment initiative to encouraging women to pursue seemingly male dominated careers”, he pointed out.

The governor stated that his administration government initially sponsored 72 youths for the training, sponsored a second batch of 150 and now another batch of 200 would go for a similar programme adding that the target was to have 1, 000 trained automotive artisans in the state.

Dr. Ganduje noted that modern vehicle models used in the country require specialized mechanics to repair them, pointing out that road side mechanics can barely service computerized vehicles to the satisfactorily.

“That is why we constructed the service centers and equipped them with modern gadgets to give people value for their money and to promote safety on our roads”, he stressed.

On his part, the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, represented by Alh. Ibrahim M.L. Jibia enjoined the artisan to strive for excellence and to be honest in their dealings with customers.

The Managing Director, Peugeot Automobile, Malam Ibrahim Boyi explained that the centers were specially constructed by his company for Kano state government to provide efficient service delivery to vehicle owners using the best available gadgets.
