Kano House of Assembly Commits to Swift Approval of 2025 Budget

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, has assured that the budget proposal presented by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will be passed promptly to support Kano State’s rapid development.

This assurance was conveyed in a press statement by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the Speaker’s spokesperson, shortly after the budget presentation on Friday.

During the unveiling of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, Falgore highlighted the notable progress achieved under Governor Yusuf’s leadership over the past 18 months, especially in education, healthcare, agriculture, and security.

Falgore reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the Governor’s efforts in advancing the state’s growth. He outlined the Assembly’s primary responsibilities, including enacting laws and overseeing government agencies, and emphasized the successful passage of numerous bills in 2024.

Addressing the poor condition of the Assembly complex, which has not seen significant renovations in three decades, he urged the state government to allocate necessary funds from the 2024 budget to begin this crucial project.

Falgore assured that the ₦549 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year would be approved before the end of 2024, allowing for its implementation to begin in January.
