Kano Politician Arrested for Incitement of Violence

Abdulmajid Danbilki, a Kano-based politician known as “Commander,” has been arrested by the police in Kano State for allegedly inciting violence during a radio program. Danbilki is accused of making statements that could promote violence and incite people against the state government.

While participating in the radio program and in a subsequent viral video, he allegedly called on Kano State residents to resist any attempts by the state government to reorganize the emirates councils. The Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, revealed on Wednesday that the suspect had been arraigned and remanded in a correctional facility.

The Commissioner stated that the accused would remain in the correctional facility until February 6, when his bail application would be heard by the Chief Magistrate’s court overseeing the case. Gumel emphasized that Danbilki’s actions were likely to incite violence or trigger counter-protests that could result in the loss of lives and property in parts of Kano State.

After profiling Danbilki, the Commissioner revealed that the politician had repeatedly used the same radio program to disseminate hate speech, which was then propagated through various social and conventional media channels as a means of making money. He urged citizens, especially Kano State residents, to recognize the harmful intent behind such messages and to ignore the subversive content.

The Commissioner further called on the public to continue volunteering information to security outfits for prompt and necessary action, emphasizing the police’s commitment to fighting crime and providing a safe environment in all parts of Kano State.
