In a historic event for Kebbi State, Vice-President Kashim Shettima has flagged off the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj exercise at the Sir Muhammadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi.
The occasion marked the first of its kind in the state’s history, granted by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in recognition of Dr. Nasir Idris’ exceptional commitment to the success of the 1445AH Hajj season.
Vice-President Shettima emphasized the significance of Hajj as a spiritual opportunity for Muslim faithfuls and urged the 65,000 intending pilgrims to embrace this chance for a spiritual rebirth.
He also stressed the importance of prayer, particularly for national leaders like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the country as a whole.
Dr. Nasir Idris expressed his satisfaction with the state government’s preparations for the inaugural flight, highlighting the support provided to pilgrims from Kebbi State. Governor Saidu Dakaingari’s efforts in building the host airport were recognized, with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar, emphasizing the need for positive prayers for leaders and the nation.
NAHCON Chairman, Arabi, praised the contributions of leaders like Tinubu and Shettima towards the successful organization of the 2024 Hajj, ensuring world-class services for pilgrims in the Holy Land.
The commitment of the new board members and various state governments was also acknowledged, promising a seamless Hajj operation for all participants.
