Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has praised the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for selecting the state as the hub for the 2024 inaugural flight of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
The Governor expressed his gratitude during a dinner held for NAHCON’s National Chairman, Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi, and his team in Birnin Kebbi yesterday.
Dr. Idris lauded the unprecedented honor bestowed upon Kebbi State, stating that it was a historic moment for the state. He assured that the necessary arrangements have been made by the state government to ensure a successful airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. The Governor also emphasized the state’s commitment to providing support and assistance to the pilgrims throughout their journey.
Idris disclosed that his administration has subsidized the Hajj fares for pilgrims, demonstrating a commitment to their welfare. He emphasized the importance of being good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria during their pilgrimage, urging them to pray for peace and unity in the country.
The State Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Usman Nasamu Dakingari, and the Chairman of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruk Musa Yaro Enabo, also reiterated the state government’s support for the pilgrims and emphasized the significance of the upcoming inaugural flight.
The Governor’s address and farewell to the intending pilgrims marked the beginning of their journey, with a reminder to uphold the values of piety and prayer during their pilgrimage to Mecca.
