The Kogi State Government has completed the remodelling of LGEA Demonstration Nursery/Primary School in Onyunkoko, Okene Local Government Area, as part of efforts to improve learning infrastructure in public schools. The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lokoja, noting that the project reflects the administration’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils across the state.
Fanwo said the renovation aligns with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s broader policy of upgrading public school facilities and standardising infrastructure to enhance the quality of basic education.According to him, the governor, who is a product of the public school system, is focused on restoring confidence in public education through sustained investment in learning facilities.
“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo understands the value of a dignified learning environment because he is a product of public schools. His administration is determined to rebuild parents’ confidence in the public education system,” the commissioner said.
He explained that the remodelling of the school in Onyunkoko is part of a wider initiative, with several other schools across Kogi State currently undergoing similar upgrades.Fanwo also noted that the state government’s education policies include free education in public schools and bursary support for students in tertiary institutions.
He acknowledged that some school structures had deteriorated over time due to years of neglect but assured residents that the government is addressing the challenge through gradual rehabilitation and infrastructure improvements.
