Kogi Government Signs MoU for State-Owned TV Station

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a state-owned television station.

The Secretary to the State Government, Pastor (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade, Ph.D., described the project as a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to empower citizens and promote socio-economic growth.

“The establishment of this television station is a testament to the state government’s commitment to empowering its citizens and promoting socio-economic growth,” she said.

“This project, which is a major step in promoting local content, culture, and development, will provide a platform to showcase our rich cultural heritage while serving as a tool for education, information, and entertainment,” she added.

Pastor Ayoade further noted that the station would enhance government-citizen communication by providing a medium to disseminate policies and programs, thereby fostering transparency and accountability.

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, expressed gratitude to Governor Usman Ododo for approving the project. He assured that his ministry would ensure the successful implementation of the station, which he promised would rank among the best in the country.

Similarly, the Team Leader of Pora Film, Mr. Olajide Ojoniyi, commended the government for the opportunity to collaborate on the initiative. He highlighted his company’s extensive experience, including over 15 years of work with DSTV, and pledged to deliver high-quality broadcasting services for Kogi State.

The signing of the MoU between the Kogi State Government and Pora Film marks a major step toward realizing the state’s vision for its television station. The initiative is expected to positively impact the state’s economy, cultural preservation, and overall development.
