Kwara bye-election

***PDP were just crying wolf ahead of defeat says APC
***Calls on INEC to investigate distribution of uncollected PVC by PDP

By Kayode Abdulazeez

The All progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has described the allegations of People Democratic Party (PDP) of importation Of thugs and ammunitions into the state to cause violence and manipulate coming Saturday’s bye-Election in their favour as mere crying of wolf because they (APC) have unraveled all their plans to rig the election as usual.

The chairman of the party Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa said this in Ilorin while addressing the press men over the issue “I can tell you all, without equivocating, that these allegations are false, PDP is only crying wolf. Those making the allegations are only seeing themselves in the mirror. Who does not know that violence and rigging are the hallmarks of the PDP? Who does not know the party that has been linked with the perpetration of violence, including armed robberies, in Kwara? Who does not know that PDP is allergic to free, fair, credible and peaceful elections”

“It is clear that the PDP has become jittery. The party is seeing the apparition of defeat in the by-election, hence its resort to concocted allegations that have no basis in fact. The PDP is right to be afraid, because the party is not on ground in the federal constituency where the bye-election will be held. And they are aware that if Saturday’s election is free and fair, it does not stand any chance of winning”

“If any party is planning to rig the forthcoming bye-election, it is the PDP. Their wolf crying is aimed at diverting attention from their rigging strategies on Saturday. And one of such strategies, we have been reliably informed that they have started distributing uncollected PVCs to voters in Ilorin for them to use in the said federal constituency, particularly in Isin. We are therefore using this opportunity to call on the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kwara to immediately order an investigation into this devious plan of the PDP”

The Chairman, however, said “Security agencies should do their duties appropriately and not to fall for series of gimmick PDP are deploying to cause confusion ahead of Saturday’s bye-election. Such as parading of victim of drunken attack by his fellow drunkard which has nothing to do with politics as member of their party that was attacked by APC”

“Our advice to the PDP is that it should stop crying wolf or dissipating its energy on the propagation of falsehood ahead Of bye-election, because elections are not won via unbridled propaganda”.

“We finally want to call on all the members and supporters of our party in Kwara State in general and the Oke-Ero/Irepodun/Ekiti/Isin Federal constituency in particular to continue to be law abiding and peaceful. They should resist any attempt by the violence-prone PDP to provoke them before, during and after the bye-elections. We have no doubt in the ability of the security agencies to ensure that the election is conducted under a peaceful atmosphere” he said.
