Kwara Poly Management Clarifies Status of Murder Suspects

By Daniel Edu

The Management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has provided clarification regarding the two female students who were recently implicated in the murder of a hotel manager in the state capital. According to the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Halimat Garba, the two individuals were erroneously identified as students of the Kwara State Polytechnic. In fact, they had been rusticated from the institution due to poor academic performance following their first year of studies.

The statement released by the Polytechnic Management reads as follows: “The attention of the Polytechnic Authority has been drawn to a trending story and a video clip in which two ladies (Joseph Joy Adama and Vandora Davies Oreoluwa) named in the alleged murder of a hotelier in Ilorin were erroneously identified as students of the Kwara State Polytechnic.”

“Our database checks showed that the two ladies had since been withdrawn from the school after their first years on account of poor academic performances. They have therefore ceased being students of our great institution.”

The statement also emphasized that the institution’s students are expected to be good ambassadors, and the Management disavowed any involvement in shameful or criminal activities. It urged the media to verify such matters with the institution to avoid misidentification in the future.

To recap, the Nigeria Police Force had previously arrested the two suspects, Joseph Joy Adama and Vandora Davies Oreoluwa Favour, for their involvement in the robbery and murder of a prominent socialite and hotel manager in Ilorin, Mr. Adeniyi Ojo. The suspects were apprehended in Mowe Ibafo, Ogun State, and admitted to their involvement in the tragic incident, where they tied the deceased under the guise of a sexual encounter, demanded money, drugged him, and suffocated him, leading to his death. Adama, one of the suspects, admitted to having a sexual relationship with the deceased and explained that their initial intent was theft, but it escalated to a tragic outcome when he did not comply with their demands.
