Ambassador John Metchie, the Prime Minister of the Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) and the African Director of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), expressed his deep sorrow at the passing of Prof. Ben Nwabueze, the former Secretary General of the prominent Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Metchie extended his condolences to the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, His Excellency, High Chief Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as well as the entire leadership of the Igbo socio-cultural organization and the global Igbo community, both within Nigeria and abroad, following the loss of this highly regarded legal luminary.

Metchie, who also serves as the President-General of the Umueri community, lauded Prof. Nwabueze as an exceptional professional who made an indelible mark in the legal field throughout his extensive career in Nigeria and internationally. He noted that Nwabueze’s legacy remained unblemished.

Highlighting Nwabueze’s roles as a former Federal Minister, constitutional lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and the author of numerous books and essays, Metchie emphasized the late legal luminary’s unwavering commitment to serving humanity rather than pursuing self-interest.
