Chairman, House Committee on Health in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Dr. Ekpo Ekpo Bassey has lauded the appointment of Mr. Benjamin Ene as Special Adviser on Marine Security.
Bassey, who represents Bakassi State Constituency during an exclusive interview with Nigerian Pilot yesterday, thanked Governor Ben Ayade for the gesture, adding that the appointment will usher peace to the restive environment and promote marine activities within and outside Bakassi area.
The lawmaker admitted that though there have been a lot of disturbances in the area, “with the appointment of Mr. Ene, economic and social activities are going to be on the rise, paving way for more business and tourism activities to the maritime environment.
Ene, a former militant leader otherwise known as G1, was the leader and member of the defunct Bakassi Strike Force which surrendered their arms to the military during the amnesty programme in December, 2018, thus heralding the end of the struggle.
The appointment was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 15 by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita.
With his appointment, Ene is among the 90 senior special advisers and special advisers appointed by Governor Ayade.
