Man Attempts to Rape Married Woman, Victim and Brother-in-law Fight Back

In a horrifying incident in Mowe-Ofada, Ogun State, one Mr. Godstime Ekanem allegedly broke into the room of Mrs. Jelila Oyinbo with the intent to rape her. Despite her warnings and clear indications of her marital status, Ekanem persisted in his advances. On September 26, 2023, when Jelila’s husband was not at home, Ekanem entered her matrimonial home and attempted to assault her.

Jelila bravely fought back and managed to inform her brother-in-law, Michael Oyewole, who rushed to her aid. A confrontation ensued, during which Michael defended his sister-in-law, using a hammer to fend off Ekanem. In the struggle, both men sustained injuries. Ekanem fled the scene, leaving behind his mobile phone and slippers in the woman’s room.

Following the incident, the police have arrested Michael Oyewole, while Ekanem has been hospitalized for medical attention.
