A 31-year-elderly person, Obinna Okafor, on Tuesday showed up under the watchful eye of an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for purportedly taking a Toyota Sienna Saloon transport worth N2.3 million.
Okafor, who lives at Ikeja zone of Lagos, is confronting a two-tally charge of intrigue and taking, to which he argued not liable.
The Prosecutor, Mr Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the litigant submitted the offenses with some different people still everywhere on Oct. 4 at No. 23, Omoghodalo St., Ogudu GRA, Lagos.
Ihiehie said that the litigant utilized an ace key to take the vehicle from where it was left.
He said that the litigant took the transport with enrollment no AAA-756 FH, having a place with the complainant, Mrs Oyinlola Famosa.
He said that the defendant stole the bus with registration no AAA- 756 FH, belonging to the complainant, Mrs Oyinlola Famosa.
He said “The defendant stole the bus from where it was parked using a master key to gain access to the said vehicle.
“He was apprehended by some security guards when he couldn’t give any satisfactory answer about the vehicle and was handed over to the police .”
The offenses contradicted Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Daybreak.ng reports that Section 287 gives three years to taking, while Section 411 stipulates two years for intrigue.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ejiro Kubeinje, conceded the litigant bail in the aggregate of N200,000 with two sureties in like total and deferred the case until Dec. 11.
