Man Met His Waterloo While Vandalizing AEDC Transformer In Kogi

From Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

A middle aged man was early hours of Thursday electrocuted while attempting to vandalize AEDC transformer at a substation at Camp road in Lokoja.

Reliable sources identified the victim as Alfa Olukuluku Kabiru, from Angwan- Masara street in Lokoja

Reacting to this ugly incident, Engr. Michael Eneromi, SME Lokoja Area Office For Abuja Electricity Distribution Company said that the attention of the Company was drawn to a corpse at a substation along camp road.

He explained that the transformer has been a subject of repeated vandalization over a period of time describing the recent vandalization that killed the unknown vandal as the fifth in the series.

”Just last week we fixed the transformer following report by the community after it was vandalized.” he stressed.

”Yesterday following another report of vandalization on the same transformer, we sent a mail requesting for about N1.9m to fix the transformer”.

Engr. Eneromi expressed gratitude to God that the recent electrocution of the vandal has exonerated Staff of the AEDC from wrong insinuation made in public spaces that staff of the electricity company are behind vandalization of electricity infrastructure.

He therefore appealed to members of the public to see electricity infrastructure as their property and should be vigilante.

Eneromi cautions those close to transformers to call the attention of AEDC when they noticed unusual movement and ensure that only staff with AEDC identity cards are allowed to carry out maintenance on our facilities.

The Corpse of the deceased as at the time of this report has been deposited at the Mortuary of the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja by the Police and the AEDC officials.
