Man United Agree Deal With New Manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Set to Miss Out

Manchester United have reportedly made significant progress in their managerial overhaul after reaching an agreement with a new head coach, effectively ruling out Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s return to Old Trafford.

The club is in the market for a long-term replacement following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim just 14 months into his tenure. United’s hierarchy are understood to have lost confidence in the Portuguese coach, with his fiery post-match press conference after the defeat to Leeds seen as the final trigger for his exit.

Former midfielder Darren Fletcher will oversee Wednesday night’s Premier League away fixture against Burnley, serving as a temporary solution while the club completes its succession plans.

Solskjaer had been strongly linked with a possible interim role until the end of the season, but reports suggest INEOS are reluctant to consider the Norwegian as a permanent option. Despite his deep understanding of the club and a previous top-four finish, United’s leadership are eager to chart a new course.

Several high-profile names have been discussed internally, including Zinedine Zidane, Roberto De Zerbi, Enzo Maresca and Oliver Glasner. Sources claim an agreement has already been reached in principle with a preferred candidate, with the club focusing on tactical adaptability, strong dressing-room authority and a clear long-term vision.

Determined to avoid another short-term fix that could hinder progress, United may still appoint an interim manager until the summer to ensure a smoother transition. However, Solskjaer is now expected to be passed over as the club prepares to usher in a new era.

With results faltering and supporter pressure intensifying, Manchester United’s next managerial appointment could prove pivotal to the club’s immediate future.
