The Sokoto State Commissioner for Energy, Alhaji Aliyu Balarabe Dandin Mahe made this known during a workshop organized by the Kaduna Electricity.
The workshop held at Sokoto Guest Inn was attended by location managers, Bill officers and consumers as well.
Balarabe informed the management of the Kaduna Electricity to as a matter of urgency replace the distribution equipment installed years ago when Sokoto was only 35% of the present population.
He similarly noted that most of the distribution equipments are worn out and dilapidated which is one of the major reasons why abnormal power interruption is experienced.
Earlier speaking on the rights of electricity consumers, he said it is not the responsibility of electricity customers or community to buy, replace or repair electricity transformers, poles and related equipment used in the supply of electricity.
Jega further said if a complaint is not satisfactorily addressed, customers have a right to escalate the issue to NERC Forum office within the coverage area of the Discos.
