Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN) on Thursday strongly condemns the recent attack on officials from the United States Consulate in Anambra State, which resulted in tragic loss of life.
In a statement signed by MWFAAN President Olorunfunmi Adebajo and made available to newsmen , she extended heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims affected by this act of violence.
“The loss of innocent lives is a grave tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted during this difficult time,the statement further reads .
According to the statement ” We stand in solidarity with the United States Consulate and hope for a swift recovery for those injured in the attack.”
MWFAAN also expresses appreciation to the Nigerian security and law enforcement agencies for their efforts in rescuing two victims who had been missing since the incident on the 16th of May.
“Such acts of violence pose a threat to the longstanding bilateral relationship and public diplomacy between Nigeria and the United States. ”
It is imperative that measures are taken to ensure the safety and security of diplomatic personnel and facilities in the country.
