Many killed as Armed Bandits Attack Birnin-Gwari Again

..Police station attacks

Armed bandits have reportedly lunched another deadly attached on residents, of Birnin Gwari, shooting, killing and burning houses in Kakangi village in south-west of Birnin-Gwari.

The bandits, according to a statement by Ibrahim Abubaker Nagwari,
Chairman, Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance,
stormed Kakangi around 5.00 pm on saturday night, on motorcycle, shooting sporadically at the police station in the area before progressing on a house to house attack and torching of houses.

An escapee, who is currently taKng shelter at Gagumi about 20 kilometres from Kakangi said: ” we were sitting in front of the police station and suddenly bandits, heavily armed started shooting. I jumped through the fence to escape”

The escapee added that “As i was escaping thick smoke from several location overshadow the sky”
Several sources said many people are feared dead including high profile indigenes of Kakangi, that were attending a mass wedding at the time of attack.

Birnin Gwari villages have recently come under several attack by bandits which led to the dead of so many residents, a situation that has became almost uncontrollable due to the frequency of the occurrence.

All efforts made by Daybreak to confirm the incident through police public the relations officer, PPRO, Kaduna command Dsp Yakubu Sabo, could not yield results as at press time.

Eyewitness account however revealed that a police was killed while many people were still missing. Six people with various degree of injuries from gunshot are lying critically at General hospital Birnin-Gwari.

“Several shops at Kakangi village market were burnt to ashes. Rescue and search operation is still ongoing. Some people are missing.
