Hajiya Hauwa Ahmed, founder of the Mata Zalla Cooperative Society in Kano, has revealed that the organization was established to empower women economically and promote self-reliance among the female population in the state.
Speaking during an interview at the association’s office in Kano City, Hajiya Hauwa highlighted the cooperative’s mission to foster economic growth for women through innovative means, such as tricycle driving.
“I decided to create something that would bring smiles to the faces of our women through tricycle driving in the city, especially at a time when unemployment rates are rising, and the government alone cannot address this challenge,” she stated.
She further emphasized that Mata Zalla Cooperative Society is committed to realizing its founding goals and called on the people of Kano State to support the initiative.
“Our vision is to create a sustainable environment where women are socially protected and economically empowered,” Hajiya Hauwa added.
In her concluding remarks, she expressed confidence that, in the near future, women across Kano State will achieve self-reliance and financial stability, thanks to the cooperative’s ongoing efforts to uplift the female gender.
Daybreak News gathered that the people of Kano have warmly embraced the initiative. The cooperative’s electric tricycles, which cater exclusively to female passengers, have been well received. However, there is still a need for more public awareness campaigns to ensure the initiative reaches a broader audience.
