Menstrual Hygiene Day: We’ve donated 10,000 Sanitary pads in Northwest – Mcrissar Foundation

The Founder/CEO of Mcrissar Foundation said the foundation with support from partners have so far donated 10,000 Sanitary Pads to women and Young girls within the North Western region of Nigeria.

She made the disclosure during the final lap of their Annual Menstrual Hygiene Day Awareness Campaign 2024, organized by the Foundation in partnership with Holy Corp NYC in Kaduna with the theme: Together for a period friendly world”.

Mrs. Rabi Musa said the Foundation has been partnering with various organizations to commemorate the annual Menstrual Hygiene Day (MHDAY), since 2022, and expressed happiness for collaborating with HOLY Corp for the year 2024 third edition.

According to her, since 2022, the Mcrissar Foundation has dedicated itself times to raising awareness and promoting menstrual hygiene through meaningful
partnerships and impactful initiatives.

“As we proceed with our program, I encourage everyone to engage, learn, and contribute to the discussions. Let us remember that menstrual hygiene is not just a women’s issue but a societal imperative that requires collective effort and commitment.

“This year, in collaboration with HOLY Corp, we have reached new heights in our mission to empower young girls and foster a supportive community.

“Our journey this year began with a significant initiative-donating sanitary pads to over 3,000 girls in Kafanchan in Kaduna state.

“This effort was more than just a distribution of products; it was a step towards ensuring dignity, health, and confidence for these young girls”, she said.

Additionally, she said their stakeholder engagements and courtesy visits to paramount rulers have reinforced the importance of community involvement in driving sustainable change.

“Today, as we gather here in Kaduna metropolis, I am delighted to see students from selected schools, media representatives, and various stakeholders who have joined us to celebrate this special occasion.

“We are honored to premiere a short documentary that embodies the spirit of our campaign, a project brought to life in collaboration with Coded Visuals”, she said.

During the event, Naomi Lester from the United States, delivered keynote address focusing on the significance of menstruation education for students with her insights and expertise which undoubtedly inspired and educated everyone.

Mr. Methodius Karfe, Program Consultant for the Mcrissar Foundation, presented paper on “Empowering men and boys to understand menstruation, a presentation that highlighted the crucial roles, educating boys and men about the role menstrual health played in fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

“Understanding menstruation is not just about providing information but about breaking down stigmas and encouraging empathy and support from all members of society”, she stated.

In conclusion, Mrs. Rani Musa, Methodius Karfe program consultant, Ayo Olukayode and Juliet Unah who are students reps from Demonstration School U/Pama and Baptist school U/Maijero respectively appealed to government and spirited individuals to make Menstrual Pads readily available and affordable for easy access because of its important to women and young girls.

She expressed special thanked to their Board President, Mrs. Gloria-Lemmy Johnson, the Vice President, Mrs. Navy Brar, members of the Board of Trustees, and the indefatigable Advisory Board President, Hon. Sule Shuaibu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Attorney General of Kaduna State, for their invaluable contributions for their unwavering support, commitment and instrumentality to their success, amongst others supporters.
