Middle Belt Forum Announces New National Working Committee Officials

The Middle Belt Forum (MBF), the umbrella body representing the Indigenous people of Central Nigeria, has announced new appointments to its National Working Committee (NWC).

The announcement was contained in a statement dated January 15, 2025, signed by the forum’s Director of Administration, Lanre Obafemi, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna.

According to the forum’s president, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, who disclosed the appointments during an NWC meeting, Barrister Aba Ejembi from Benue State has been promoted to National Secretary General. Additionally, Mr. Luka Binniyat, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter, has been named the National Public Relations Officer (PRO).

The statement noted, “The Middle Belt Forum (MBF), which serves as the overarching umbrella body of the Middle Belt people in Central Nigeria, announced a minor reorganization of its National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

“The President of the Forum, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, revealed during an NWC meeting that Barrister Aba Ejembi, formerly the Deputy Secretary General, has been promoted to National Secretary General. Similarly, Mr. Luka Binniyat, the Forum’s Kaduna State Chapter Chairman, was confirmed as the National Public Relations Officer (PRO).

“By this development, Binniyat, a veteran journalist and former National Spokesman of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), will now serve as the national spokesperson for the Middle Belt Forum.”

The statement further urged members of the Middle Belt Forum and the general public to support the newly appointed officials in their roles.

“Dr. Pogu calls on the Middle Belt family and the general public to acknowledge these changes and provide the new officials with the necessary cooperation they may require,” the statement concluded.
