Mikang Council Boss Hon Kungmi Inaugurates Committee on Disaster Management

In compliance with the directive of the executive governor of plateau state, barr. Caleb mutfwang, the transition committee chairman of mikang local government council has inaugurated the local emergency management committee in the area with a called on them to be proactive and diligent in the discharge of their duties.

Performing the inauguration at the conference room of the council , kungmi said, the committee as the name implies is to manage disaster and emergency crisis at the local government level working in synergy with the state emergency management committee (sema) and the national emergency management committee (nema).

He said the committee members have been carefully selected based on professionalism ,track record and experience and called on them to bring to bear that expertise as they discharge their responsibilities.

Hon kungmi, appreciated barr. Caleb manasseh mutfwang for being proactive to approve the constitution of this all important committee at a time the nigeria meteorological agency,nimet has forecast that thirteen states including plateau state would experience heavy rain fall and potential flooding .

The chairman pledged his administration commitment to ensure that the committee gets the necessary support and logistics to enable them to succeed in the discharge of their functions.

The chairman also pointed out that apart from the eleven members of the committee, there are also honorary members from can, jni, security agencies, community leaders and the csos and enjoined them to always consult these bodies in the discharge of their functions.

In her response, the chairman of the committee and the deputy transition committee chairman of mikang local government council, hon. Mrs. Vera mamsing said, she counts it a privilege to chair this committee and assured the chairman that the committee will do its best not to let the council down.

She enjoined the committee members to bring to bear their knowledge to bear in the task ahead .
