Minister Doro Hosts Plateau Northern Zone Stakeholders Meeting to Promote Unity, APC Registration

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, has convened a Northern Zone Expanded Stakeholders Meeting in Plateau State to promote unity, peacebuilding, and participation in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic registration exercise. The meeting, held in Jos, brought together political leaders, party officials, elder statesmen, and elected office holders from across Plateau North Senatorial District.

Addressing participants, Dr. Doro said the engagement was aimed at interfacing with his constituency, assessing the APC registration process, and encouraging broad participation to ensure accurate representation of party members in Plateau State.

He noted that the forum also provided an opportunity to formally receive individuals who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, stressing the importance of unity and internal cohesion within the party. Dr. Doro described the meeting as part of early mobilisation efforts to strengthen the APC ahead of future elections, while supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang.

Beyond political matters, the minister highlighted ongoing security challenges in Plateau North and their humanitarian impact. He said his ministry is prioritising a humanitarian–development–peace approach to reduce crises and support long-term stability. He also disclosed that the ministry will hold its inaugural Council on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Cross River State, where states will harmonise policies on poverty reduction. Dr. Doro expressed optimism that sustained dialogue and coordinated efforts would enhance peace and socio-economic development in Plateau State.
