A furious crowd on Saturday, August 10, apparently lynched an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) appended to the Area M Command for purportedly shooting a pregnant lady called Biliki.

It was reported that the ghastly episode occurred at Agbole zone of Ijegun in Egbe-Idimu neighborhood board advancement territory on Saturday evening.

It was additionally accumulated that two other policemen were injured and raced to the royal residence of the Ijegun ruler for security.

It ought to be noticed that inconvenience for the security agents began after a stray shot allegedly discharged by them during their pursuit of suspected hijackers hit the lady.

She was said to have promptly been taken to the clinic but passed on soon after.

Her demise caused a shock as inhabitants asked why the agents would shoot in a territory with such a large number of individuals.

A resident identified as Damilare Olarenwaju said that the policemen fired at a roundabout with so many people around.

The development, according to the Nation, made the youths in the area to block an important road to in the community.

Bala Elkana, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the death of the officer and the injured, adding that policemen have been deployed to the area to restore peace.
