Mohbad’s Widow, Wunmi, Gives Fresh Update on DNA Court Case with Father-in-Law

The paternity dispute involving Liam, the son of late singer Mohbad, resurfaced on Wednesday after the child’s mother, Wunmi, released a new statement responding to claims that she has been avoiding the DNA test demanded by Mohbad’s father.

The update followed Mohbad’s father’s recent disclosure that the DNA case had been reopened and that his son would not be buried until the test is conducted.

Mohbad’s Father Challenges Paternity

The grieving father has consistently questioned Liam’s paternity and approached the court seeking an order compelling Wunmi to present the child for a DNA test. Public speculation has repeatedly accused Wunmi of delaying the process.

But in a statement issued through her legal team and shared on Instagram, Wunmi argued that her father-in-law has been responsible for the setbacks.

According to her, the case resumed in court on Tuesday, where Mohbad’s father requested that the DNA test be carried out only in two hospitals of his choosing.

Court Dismisses Application

Wunmi said the court dismissed the application and ruled that the test must be conducted in two neutral, independent hospitals with no personal connections to either party.

She added that this requirement has contributed to the delay and emphasised that she is prepared to proceed immediately once both sides agree on neutral medical facilities.
