The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued nine pregnant women from a baby factory located in the Ushafa area of Abuja, Nigeria.
The rescue operation, carried out after a tip-off from a concerned citizen, revealed that the women were confined in an apartment within a large estate by an unidentified trafficking agent. The victims were reportedly recruited through an online platform.
In a related development, NAPTIP’s Director-General, Binta Adamu-Bello, praised the judiciary for convicting and sentencing Bishop Kenneth Duke, who was found guilty of raping a 12-year-old girl in Abuja.
Ms. Adamu-Bello emphasized the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for human trafficking, violence, and other crimes, reiterating its commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals.
“Rape is a serious crime with long-lasting trauma for the victim,” she stated. “We must stand against such heinous acts and ensure the safety of our children.”
This operation highlights NAPTIP’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and ensure justice for victims.
